Initial teacher training courses available : The level 3 Award in Education and Training is a short, introductory course if you are brand new to teaching and thinking about starting a career in Further Education, apprenticeships or workplace training. As soon as you get a few hours teaching work per week you can choose to progress to a level 4 Certificate in Education and Training qualification. The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is for those who have access to 100 hours teaching practice and wish to go on to become a fully qualified teacher and gain QTLS . Who are the qualification courses for?
Angela works as an administration officer for a training provider and has enjoyed training her colleagues in their office systems. She wants to improve these skills as a trainer. She decided to do the level 3 Award in Education and Training course as it provided her with an alternative route to a qualification with fees she could afford.

Nicola is a self-employed hairdresser and beautician who also works part time providing customer training for a skin-care products company. Using the Assessor’s Award she is able to assess trainee hairdressers at work. She plans to complete the level 3 award in Education and Training qualification and then progress on to the level 4 Certificate in Education and Training course so she can embark on a new career teaching hairdressing in her local FE college.
Jo is a salesperson with a qualification in Spanish and has spent time living in South America, working for a travel company. He chose to do the level 3 Award in Education and Training course so he could teach holiday Spanish at evening classes. He now plans to gain the Assessor qualification as this broadens his job opportunities and enables him to apply for work assessing or teaching vocational qualifications in Travel and Tourism, Customer Service or Spanish.
Richard is a retired accountant who has taught and assessed accountancy skills in a college evening class. He decided to gain an Internal Verification qualification so he can work part-time for a training provider as an internal verifier.
